Infant Care
At The EtonHouse City Pre-School, our Infant Care programme offers a calm and nurturing start for children from 6 months of age. Grounded in a deep respect for infants as capable and curious learners, our programme is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and centred on relationships, exploration and emotional security.
Infants learn through their bodies, senses and interactions with others. Within safe and purposeful environments, infants are encouraged to explore, move and discover using carefully selected materials, natural textures and open-ended resources that support early sensory, motor and cognitive development. Educators observe closely and respond sensitively, designing experiences that build on each child’s emerging interests and strengths.
Through gentle outdoor walks, infants encounter the sights, sounds and rhythms of city life. These everyday experiences support early social awareness, communication and confidence as children begin to observe, recognise and respond to the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
With a low teacher to child ratio, educators are able to form strong, trusting relationships with each infant. Consistent care, meaningful interactions and a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences provide a safe and supportive foundation for holistic development, while gently preparing children for their transition into the next stage of their learning journey.
