University and Careers Guidance

Within the wider pastoral support network of EtonHouse International School Orchard, students are well-supported in their careers and university planning during their time in Senior School. We provide a student-centred university and careers guidance programme that offers personalised support to help students explore their interests and passions, learn about different career options, and make informed decisions about their education and future career paths. Our small class sizes and mantra that ‘every student is known well by every teacher’ enable us to provide individual and bespoke support, which puts the student firmly at the forefront of the decision-making process.

Personalised Pathway Plan

In Years 9 and 11, each student would have in-depth discussions and interviews with key staff to develop their Personalised Pathway Plan. These discussions include conversations connected to the student’s career aspirations and advice by experienced teachers, enabling them to make informed and appropriate subject choice decisions for their IGCSE and International A-Levels to maximise academic potential whilst supporting personal development. Each individual will also be provided with opportunities outside the classroom to challenge themselves, nurture talents and be ambitious as they explore and consider their potential future career.

Support for University Application

As part of a robust and focused Lifeskills curriculum, experienced teachers and expert guest speakers would also conduct workshops, talks and discussions on study skills, university application, and university life to support students and their families in planning and preparing for their university applications. Our Years 12 and 13 students have access to a wide range of resources and guidance, from advising on course requirements to steering university research. Through our counselling support, we work with them during individual meetings and group workshops to create a balanced university list, write their personal statements and essays and prepare for interviews. With support and guidance, students are encouraged to take ownership of their research and planning process to find their best fit institution or career pathway. We believe that the university application process, like all experiences at EtonHouse International School Orchard, is an opportunity for students to learn, develop and grow.

Support for Parents

The decisions our students make at this stage are crucial. Therefore, we strongly encourage them to have open and honest conversations with their families. With this in mind, we also offer parental support for the university application process through our Connect@Orchard programme of workshops, talks and discussions.

Every child at EtonHouse matters. Our goal is for them to leave EtonHouse with as many doors open to them as possible so that they can be happy and successful beyond their formal schooling years.
