Ng Hark Seng came from humble beginnings.

He grew up poor in the village of Kampong Henderson, losing his father at the age of three.
He never even expected to finish secondary school. However, with luck and hard work, he was able to win a government scholarship to attend the University of Singapore.

In 1977, he married Gim Choo, who would go on to become the founder of EtonHouse.
Together, they had three children, E-Ching, Yi-Sheng, and Vi-Xian, now the Group CEO of EtonHouse. In the 1980s, his work brought him to London and Hong Kong. Gim Choo was so inspired by her daughter’s education there that she was inspired to set up EtonHouse in 1995.
After years of service at Singapore Technologies, Hark Seng retired. However, he found a new career at EtonHouse, serving as the Chairman of E-Bridge Pre-School. Under his leadership, E-Bridge grew to 6,000 students, offering high quality education at affordable fees.

Mr Ng was more than just a leader; he was a visionary who believed deeply that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to high-quality early childhood education. This belief guided his work at E-Bridge and his support of the EtonHouse Community Fund (ECF), touching countless lives and creating opportunities for children to thrive.

As the EtonHouse and E-Bridge staff mourn his passing, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and the lasting impact he had on our educational community. His understanding nature, supportive leadership, and unwavering commitment to education will continue to inspire us all.

As his colleagues say, Mr Ng was a great boss, always known for being understanding and supportive. “We owe a lot to Hark Seng. Had he not taken me to London, there would be no EtonHouse today,” says Dr.Ng Gim Choo, founder of EtonHouse. “He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and we will miss him deeply.”

In lieu of wreaths, you can consider making a donation to the EtonHouse Community Fund (ECF), an IPC charity to honour his legacy by continuing the work that was closest to his heart.
